Wire Rope

Wire Rope
Wire Rope or Aircraft cable? Wire Rope is technically the correct term for groups of strand wrapped in a uniform helix around a core. Aircraft cables are in smaller diameters than wire rope. Sizes over 3/8" are not considered aircraft cable, they are wire rope. Our wire ropes are generally for use with Cranes, Dredging, Excavating, Logging, Choker Ropes and Hoist Ropes. If you are looking for steel cable for ropes courses, aircraft cable railings, theatrical rigging, exercise equipment, winch lines, garage doors and signage. Look at our amazing selection of aircraft cable.

Inspect Wire Rope regularly for visible damage, distortion, elongation, corrosion, cracks, nicks or abrasion, which may cause failure or reduce the strength of Wire Rope.

Avoid shock loads. Do not load Wire Rope to the breaking strength limits. End user must determine an appropriate safety factor for the application.

Fiber Core Bright Wire Rope
The fiber core center is made of either natural fibers or polypropylene and offers superior flexibility.Independent wire rope core (IWRC) ropes have superior crush resistance and strength over fiber core wire ropes, but offer less flexibility.
Rotation Resistant Bright Wire Rope
The construction of this Wire Rope reduces rotation under load.It is often used for hoisting unguided loads with a single part rope. Commonly used as a crane wire rope and hoist cable.
Steel Center Wire Rope
Independent wire rope core (IWRC) ropes have superior strength and crush resistance over fiber core wire ropes, but offer less flexibility.
Stainless Steel Wire Rope (sold by the foot)
Stainless Steel Wire Rope provides superior corrosion resistance and flexibility for use in marine environments, Dredging, Mooring lines, Heavy Duty Guard Rail and Logging.
